About START
START is a community-led internship program for diverse high-school artists (grades 9-12) who want to make an impact in their community. We provide the tools, supplies, and support for creative and talented high-schoolers to plan and implement original and imaginative community projects that matter to them.
Mentored by art students from local universities, local K-12 art teachers, and local professional artists, teens can complete an internship, begin to develop portfolios, and expand on their knowledge and skills. We are looking for a variety of unique art project ideas, including drawing, painting, t-shirt design, photography, film-making, website design, and the production of radio shows.
If you are a middle-school or high-school student or college student and would like to apply for assistance and supplies for your art project, please send us a request via our CONTACT page, and we will gladly email an application to you.
All teens (students ages 13 to 19) can apply.
